The UK Prime Minister to Urge Partner Nations on Long-Range Missiles for Ukraine at UK Gathering

Summit Meeting
Sir Keir plans to receive Ukraine's leader for talks of the "group of committed partners"

The UK Prime Minister is expected to urge partner nations to deliver Ukraine with additional extended-range weaponry to target Russian targets during talks in London on Friday.

The prime minister plans to receive President Zelensky alongside the so-called "group of committed partners", including numerous of Ukraine's allies who have agreed to provide Kyiv protection commitments once hostilities pause is brokered.

Ukraine's president has been urging for weeks for additional advanced missile technology from the West, a step that Moscow has stated would intensify the war.

The Ukrainian president is coming from the EU capital, where he conferred with European representatives on the previous day pursuing financial support.

"The only person involved in this conflict who refuses to halt the war is Vladimir Putin," Sir Keir said.

Sir Keir will also announce that 100 additional air defence missiles will be delivered to Ukraine ahead of schedule, as detailed in a substantial financial arrangement struck between Britain and Kyiv in last spring.

International Support

Ukraine's leader arrives after significant diplomatic successes in recent days: Washington's action to implement additional restrictions against Russia, and EU nations agreeing to fund Ukraine's financial gap.

Britain's leader is aiming to continue the momentum by increasing the leverage on the Kremlin to negotiate a conclusion to the war.

Meeting Attendees

  • Nato Secretary General the Secretary General
  • Copenhagen's head the Danish PM
  • Holland's Dick Schoof
  • Others including Paris's head Macron will join virtually

The Prime Minister will urge participants to expand the supply of long-range weapons following an effective operation on an industrial facility in the Bryansk region, the Russian Federation, using Britain-delivered missile systems.

"Furthermore, his horrific strikes on innocent children in a nursery recently show that perfectly obvious," he stated further.

A pair of children were part of no fewer than seven lost in multiple Russian strikes on Ukrainian territory, which struck a nursery in the important metropolitan area Kharkiv.

Budgetary Negotiations

Sir Keir will confer with partner nations on methods to take Russian oil and gas from international trade.

The participants will also examine utilizing frozen Russian assets to offer Ukraine with monetary support, though the proposal encountered a lack of political consensus and jurisdictional challenges at the EU conference on the previous day.

European nations stopped short of agreeing to a proposal to use approximately €140 billion in seized Russian resources to economically support the Ukrainian economy.

However, the delegates agreed to contribute to Ukraine's "budgetary necessities" for the coming 24 months.

The US also announced measures on midweek against the Russian two largest energy corporations, the state-owned company and Lukoil Corporation, as element of actions to apply financial pressure on the Kremlin to enter peace talks.

Moscow began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in winter 2022. It presently controls about 20% of the country's land, including the southern region the Russian government took control of in 2014.
